Our Practice History
He took great pride when his daughter, Dr. Karen Springer, joined him in private practice in 1978 but who has since then retired. In 1985, Dr. Mark Ichikawa became a partner of the expanding practice. After practicing as an associate for over 12 years, in 2013, Dr. Cindy Tran became an equal partner of Sunnyvale Optometry and in 2015, became the sole owner of this private practice. All associate doctors remain part of the integral team covering all aspects of ocular health and vision eye care. We continue to grow by word-of-mouth referrals and have served generations of families in the Bay Area community for many years.

Cindy H. Tran, O.D.
Dr. Cindy Tran received her Bachelor of Sciences degree in Biochemistry with a minor in Nutrition from the University of California at Davis in 1996. She earned her doctorate degree from the Southern California College of Optometry in 2001. Dr. Tran completed her clinical externships at Hu Hu Kam Memorial Hospital, San Diego Naval Hospital, Optometric Center of Los Angeles and Eyecare Center of Southern California College of Optometry. She is TPA and glaucoma certified.

Spencer A. Lee, O.D.
Dr. Spencer Lee received his Bachelor of Science in Human Biology from the University of California in San Diego before receiving his doctorate degree from the University of Missouri-St. Louis College of Optometry. He is TPA certified and is licensed to treat glaucoma and various ocular diseases. He is professionally affiliated with the California Optometric Association, the American Academy of Optometry, and the American Optometric Association.
Dr. Lee completed clinical externships at the Saint Louis University Eye Institute, The Koetting Associates, St. Louis Community Healthcare Centers, Eigenbrodt Vision Center in Illinois, and the University of Missouri-St. Louis University Eye Center. In addition to providing comprehensive eye care, Dr. Lee’s special interests include the diagnosis and management of retinal diseases and dry eye syndrome. |
Dr. Lee also enjoys fitting specialty contact lenses, including orthokeratology, scleral lenses, and rigid gas permeable lenses. Dr. Lee has experience serving the geriatric population and can speak conversational Cantonese.
During his free time, he enjoys hiking at national and state parks, catching up on his Netflix shows, tennis, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends.

MICHELA M. FONG, O.D.
Dr. Michela Fong was born and raised in Sacramento, California and received her Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior from the University of California, Davis. She then went on to receive her Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern California College of Optometry. Dr. Fong has had clinical training at the University eye clinic in Los Angeles and Fullerton as well as at the San Diego Naval Base and at Schermer Eye Associates in Sacramento.
After graduating from optometry school, Dr. Fong completed an Ocular Disease Residency at the Southern Nevada Veterans Healthcare Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. During her residency, Dr. Fong received special training for the treatment and management of patients with ocular diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration and retinal diseases. Dr. Fong is TPA and glaucoma certified and provides full, comprehensive eye care. Dr. Fong is affiliated with the American Academy of Optometry and has volunteered abroad for a medical mission trip to Vietnam. |
During her free time, Dr. Fong enjoys hiking, baking during the holidays, traveling and visiting with family and friends. Dr. Fong also enjoys taking care of her many houseplants and gardening.

Caitlyn y. lew, o.d.
Dr. Caitlyn Lew grew up in the greater Los Angeles area and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychobiology from the University of California, Los Angeles. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of California Berkeley, School of Optometry and received clinical training at Byers Eye Institute at Stanford University, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, West Oakland Health Center, and Meredith Morgan Eye Center at UC Berkeley.
Dr. Lew is a therapeutic and glaucoma certified optometrist and enjoys comprehensive eye care for patients of all ages. She has a special interest in pediatric optometry and binocular vision disorders. Dr. Lew completed her residency training at the Southern California College of Optometry at Marshall B. Ketchum University in Anaheim, CA where she received advanced training in pediatric primary care, strabismus, amblyopia, vision therapy, and myopia control management. |
Dr. Lew places a strong emphasis on communication and education with her patients to ensure they understand their eye conditions and appropriate treatment options.
Dr. Lew is professionally affiliated with the Santa Clara County Optometric Society, California Optometric Association, and American Academy of Optometry. She has traveled to Nicaragua and Honduras for volunteer medical mission trips and hopes to continue volunteering in her local community and abroad.
